Origin: Amazonian Region; most common in Pará
INCI: Astrocaryum Vulgare
Extraction method: Cold pressed from the seeds of the fruit
Color: Light yellow to opaque
Odor: Characteristic, sweet
Texture: Smooth, solid; non-greasy and melts immediately when touching the skin
Other: Wild harvested, grown naturally, no preservatives and sustainable
Key Attributes:
- High in lauric, myristic and oleic acids, as well as, fatty acids that help protect and moisturize the skin
- High levels of beta-carotene (converts into Vitamin A) help keep skin soft and nourished; natural sun protector from UV rays
- Similar in quality to Murumuru Butter but has a slightly lower melting point (30⁰C – 32⁰C)
- Known for its rich content of polyphenols which help fight free radicals and its antioxidant properties
- Excellent emollient – forms a protective film on the skin, similar to commercial silicone, but without clogging pores
