Description
Aspartame is an artificial, non-saccharide sweetener that is 200 times sweeter than sugar. It is made by joining together the amino acids aspartic acid and phenylalanine. It is often used as a sugar substitute in reduced calorie foods and beverages. It can also be included in chewing gum, vitamins and sugar-free medicines (such as cough drops).
